Title: Legal Records & IT Specialist

Position type: Full time, hourly, non-exempt

Salary: $18- $20/hour, depending on experience

Georgia Innocence Project (GIP) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to correcting and preventing wrongful convictions in Georgia, primarily by providing pro bono legal services to people convicted of serious crimes that they did not commit.  The Legal Records & IT Specialist position is based in our office in Atlanta (with one day remote per week) and reports to the Operations Director or their designee. The Legal Records & IT Specialist is responsible for the following duties:

LEGAL DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT

  • Scan, distribute, and file case-related mail
  • Maintain physical and digital case files
  • Process case-related documents and information from agencies in response to open record requests
  • Serve as point of contact/coordinator for scanning vendor(s)
  • Coordinate file sharing with co-counsel, experts, and others

LEGAL DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Input basic data into case management system (Clio)
  • Work to improve quality of existing case data
  • Help identify and implement improvements for data collection, input, and organization
  • Assist with data reporting, exporting, and sharing 

IT SUPPORT

  • Software/service troubleshooting and ‘help desk’ support for all GIP users
  • Hardware support for GIP staff
  • Help manage office printers and scanners
  • Assist with integration creation and maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years relevant work experience preferred
  • Extremely tech savvy and autodidactic, able to learn new systems and software quickly
  • Highly responsive and able to communicate clearly
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Welcomes respectful giving and receiving of constructive feedback
  • Humility and confidence, no job is too small or too big
  • Comfortable with repetition, able to stay focused when working on rote projects and tasks
  • Persistent, sees work through to completion
  • Fluid, able to switch between different duties and areas of responsibility
  • Passion for and understanding of GIP’s mission and work
